How Do I Choose A Moving Company?

Moving is a big deal. We don’t have to say that very often, because you already know. Packing up all of your personal and family belongings into boxes, putting them onto a truck, unloading them in a new house, and unpacking and placing things where they go takes time, energy and patience. Here at Today Movers, we can help with all aspects of the moving process. Before you start calling around town looking for a moving company that can operate within your budget and time-frame, there are a few things to consider when you choose a moving company.

Insurance

Always double check to make sure the moving company you’ve selected is insured for damages and losses. In the event that any of your belongings are damaged, knowing that the company you’ve chosen to move you and your family has an up-to-date insurance policy is peace of mind.

Age of Business

You should always trust a company that has been in business for many years and has the experience necessary to insure that your move will go smoothly.

Licensed by the State

If your moving company is a reputable company, then they will be listed on the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles website. Moving companies must be licensed with the state in order to be in business as a moving company.

Experienced Workers

Many unlicensed moving companies hire day-labor workers who are not experienced or qualified as movers. Verifying the experience of the workers on the crew will insure that everyone who handles your personal belongings is qualified as a moving specialist.

Ask For Referrals

In the past couple of years, there has been a burst of neighborhood apps, like Nextdoor, to generate referrals and solicit recommendations. If your neighbors have had good experiences with a moving company, then it would be in your best interest to investigate further! If a company has no good referrals and a low rating on Yelp, then it’s probably in your best interest to run as far away as you can!
